The Intel X-25's are 250mb/sec read and 70mb/sec write. The Corsair's are 220mb/sec read and 200mb/sec write. How come the Intel's have lower write times? Seems like the 220/200 Corsair would be a better drive than the 250/70 Intel?... Or I must be missing something?

Linear read and write times are not everything. The intel drive is better at random write speeds.

yah it is like the early days of video benchmarking. folks are tweaking their drives to be benchmark queens.

ask yourself this: would you like a corsair processor in your pc? or an intel..

Lets do a race car comparison.

You're comparing their "quarter mile times". Which might be great if you only went in a straight line.

The OCZ's are tweaked to go in straight line. They throw out the shocks, sway bars, suspension, etc. And put big slicks (drag tires) on the car. So in that benchmark they do great.

So its faster than the Intel in a straight line. (sequential writes)

However in the real world you have to make turns and do lots of little random things. ie: random writes

So Intel tweaked for better real world performance and put multi-purpose tires on their car, which don't need to do a burnout first to get hot & gummy for traction, that can drive in the rain, make turns with better suspension, etc.

So the Intel is much better at "cornering, agility and real world handling" (random write)
