Intel SSD for under $150?

Has anyone noticed the new PQI SSD drives that are up on Newegg now? On the "features" list for these drives it says "Intel MLC".

Part of me is wondering if these drives are using the Intel controller.... which may mean these SSDs don't suffer from the annoying pauses other low cost SSDs do.

I have not been able to find much information on these SSDs at all. Even on the PQI web site. Anyone have any info on exactly what kind of tech is used on these drives?

Heres the newegg link for one of them: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820141420

MOD EDIT: Booting it over to Memory and Storage. - Zap

Nice catch! These drives only seem to be listed at resellers. Anyone want to be the guinea pig?

i think it means intel MLC memory chips + Jmicron controller (compared to samsung MLC chips + jmicron controller)... because I know that the Jmicron controller allows for such a mini USB plug, but AFAIK the intel controller does not.
the speed and price lead credence to that theory.

I think I read somewhere that the USB plug is used for firmware updates only and not for mass storage access? Not 100% sure though, maybe someone can confirm?

I think I might wait for the Samsung 256Gb drive to come out mentioned by a New Egg purchaser of one of those SLC 32Gb Intel drives; mentioned in his review. I've searched and found by January 09 they are suppose to hit the market...

Intel made seperate chips for quite a while, its the first time they made their own SSD with the brand and technology. The chips themselves are not anything exciting.
