Intel SSD 600p incompatible with Windows 10 Version 1803

Great.

Guess I'm pretty lucky over here, as I haven't had any issues with the update process. Everything seems to be running stable too.

I thought MS updates were forced unless you had pro/enterprise versions yet they say not to update if you have one of these drives.....??

Yup, updates are forced by default. That's one of the things I hate about the current state of Windows, forcing updates in the name of security while also opening Pandora's box when it comes to automated feature and driver install. You get a considerably more secure system... that may or may not work next Tuesday 🙂

The same 1803 build introduced a storage related bug: a hidden recovery partition became visible on many OEM systems, triggering storage space notifications from the OS. It can be fixed with diskpart, but most users will probably have to wait for a patch to clear things up. (some will also wonder where that 500MB drive came from)

I guess I got lucky on my 600p rig running on a 2700X because I didn't have any issues with the upgrade.

We can add some Toshiba drives to the list of SSDs that don't play nice with Windows 1803. Fortunately for those affected, it's just a power usage hindrance, with a fix scheduled for early June:
After upgrading to Window 10 April 2018 Update, select devices with Toshiba XG4 Series, Toshiba XG5 Series or Toshiba BG3 Series solid state disk (SSD) drives may exhibit lower battery life.

Microsoft is working with OEM partners and Toshiba to identify and block devices with Toshiba XG5 Series or Toshiba BG3 Series solid state disk (SSD) from installing the April 2018 Update due to a known incompatibility that may cause battery performance issues.

Microsoft estimates the release date for the resolution for this issue to be available in early June.
