Intel RST driver on ICH9 non raid version?

is it possible to get the intel AHCI driver working on a ICH9 non raid chip on windows 7? the installer says nono and the chip isn't listed under supported chipsets. but I remember there was a inf fix to install AHCI driver on ICH9 under win XP, has anyone tried that under windows 7? I know the ms ahci driver has trim too, I just wanna try the intel driver too, getting very inconsistent numbers in the pcmark benchmarks with my SSD that I don't like.
