Intel reveals new 64-bit server chip

I'd like to see Intel 'paper launch' this in September. I might be eating my words, but I'm doubtful these AMD64 compatible Intel chips will be available in volume this 2004 year like AMD's Athlon64 chip was last year...

Apparently based on Prescott core. This could explain all the "unexplained" extra in Prescott. If so, this didn't happen overnight, and there probably isn't any reason Intel won't ship AMD compatible 64 bit chips in volume this year. Intel could've had this backup plan in motion for some time.

Wow! Shaping up to be an interesting year regardless.

With Intel behind it, X86-64 is the future of computing 🙂

Hehe, its a random thought, but Microsoft could make Windows Longhorn an X86-64 only operating system. This could explain the late 2005 release date...😉

Just throwing some junk into the air and seeing where it falls.
