The 3930k does not have intel hd3000 graphics, nor quicksync or clearvideo

------

Less hot deals than the winter 2011 deal. That one had a 2700k for $74 for rock legends and $104 for members. Most retail employees will see no performance difference comparing a 4 core i7 vs a 6 core i7. Yet the prices are more expensive by $100 dollars and the motherboards are more expensive by $150 dollars.

The SSD is a great price for the fastest drive on the market and supposedly in the top 3 for reliability. That said it is not a hot price just a very good price.

this cpu isnt aimed at most people that would want HD graphics

in reality teh motherboard price is about 50-75 difference for enthusiasts, anything decent with more than one PCIE 3 slot is going to run 175 or so in 1155 and 2011 boards start at 200

teh holiday deal was literally on fire though, sad I missed it.

I am mentioning that the 3930k does not have integrated video nor quick sync for the OP posted that it does (which is mostly not his fault for intel press release said it did.) I was clearing up misinformation.

--------------------

Most retail employees aren't going to do sli/crossifre. Furthermore unless you are trying to do 120hz or 1440p do you really need to do sli/crossfire with today's current games.

Games that get 60fps or above on both nvidia and radeon’s $250 dollar cards (GTX560TI and HD7850 respectively.) on the best settings
Dirt3
Total War Shogun 2
Portal 2
Starcraft 2
Skyrim on Radeon

Games that get above 30fps or above on the best settings. These games are playable at this detail level, if you reduce some AA or tweak the settings you will probably get 50 to 60fps.
Crysis Warhead
Metro2033
Batman Arkham City
Battlefield 3
Skyrim on Geforce
Civ 5 (this game is so close to 50 and it is not a twitch game that I think it should be in the category above.)

So half of the games are above 60fps on the best settings and the other half are extremely playable and the only reason you want a card above $250 is for things such as AA.

Numbers from Ananadtech 2012 Bench. I only included the 1920x1200 resolution

didnt even notice that sorry

beyond that you dont need that CPU for 60FPS either.

for gaming the only people that need this cpu are running multiple cards

but it does suck that there are ZERO low end mobos for it

I would LOL at one of these on the equivalent of a H61 mobo though, 4gb of ram and using the onboard graphics

When you sign up it shows you a list of partners.

They're asking for an ID number...?

The store I work at appears on the list. Are they referring to your employee number/ID?

Edit: I entered that and it worked, so it's the employee ID. You're eligible if you work in retail, pretty much. Sweet.

I guess I'll wait 6 months until the holidays come and see what I can get. The 3930K is a sweet deal, but its power consumption and heat output is too high for me. The 520 is a great SSD, but I already have an SSD in my desktop and the 520 consumes too much power to use in a laptop.

I get paid tomorrow, so that should be easy.

I really hope they have the 3770K on sale in the holidays. Even at $200 it would be sweet. Or maybe a CPU/motherboard combo deal.

If they're selling a 3930K for 197 dollars a 3770K should be like 99.99

Yeah, since the 2600K was at $99 last holiday. I was working retail back then. If only I'd known before I built my rig I would've saved $220. :\

What I mean is, even at $200, it would be a sweet deal. I can sell my 2600K easily for ~$230 and my motherboard has PCIe 3.0 support as long as it's an Ivy Bridge CPU.

This statement is completely wrong. I didn't even have to look it up, since as a sandforce ssd the 520 series should show somewhat similar power usage to other sandforce ssd's. However, in the interest of posting accurate, verifiable information instead of FUD, I did in fact do some research. Guess what I found?

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5508/...cherryville-brings-reliability-to-sandforce/8

So you think that the samsung 830, crucial m4, and OCZ octane are also too power-hungry? Thank goodness my wife has an intel 320 series in her laptop...

edit: BTW, I just looked up the seagate momentus 7200.4 500gb. I assume that you're no longer using that drive, as according to Anandtech, "Compared to an high end SSD though, the Momentus XT is still more power hungry" . And Anand himself wrote the article. I'm not saying that it's impossible for him to make a mistake, but it seems pretty unlikely in this case, right?

Here's a link to that article: http://www.anandtech.com/show/3734/seagates-momentus-xt-review-finally-a-good-hybrid-hdd/7

In all fairness, 3 or 4 w isn't really very much power draw when the cpu uses 25-45w though, is it? Where did you come by your info, anyway?

I don't have a Momentus XT, which is a hybrid Hard Drive. I have the normal 7200RPM drive. In terms of power consumption it's similar to the SSD 330 and SSD 520, which I find too high especially since it's only an HDD and therefore responsiveness isn't nearly as good as an SSD. If the Samsung 830 comes within the price of the Crucial m4, I'll get that. If not, I'll settle for an m4.

The SSD 520 and 330 use significantly more power during idle than the Samsung 830. The Crucial m4 uses less, as does the SSD 320.

Nice going with the unfounded FUD accusations, though.
