A 1.000 person team to make the LTE chip for the next iPhone using intels 14nm process, but it says that apples objective would be to at some point integrate inside it's own SOC, (maybe also manufactured by Intel?).

What I can't put toguether with this new rumor is the rumor that Apple was putting toguether a team to develop their own RF chips. Although maybe that's just for Bluetooth/Wifi. I even could see them do their own low power protocol just for iphone <--> watch communication.

I would say this is redundant, but it looks like you posted 2 hours before witeken. So in reality, you beat him to the punch, but nobody wants to respond to your thread.

Interesting that they seem to be pouring resources into this, and by extension de-emphasising the x86 mobile chips.

That's what I assumed you meant, but the clarification is helpful.

Should be interesting to see how Intel's lineup of smartphone and tablet processors progresses from here on out then.

I like the definition of (truly) mobile as: "always connected and poketable". The rest is just portable computing.
