Building a new server, probably i3-based... seems like killer price/perf for basic file/media/htpc server. Looking at mobo's and noticed the H55 and H57 chipsets offer something called Remote PC Assist Technology for Consumer (RPAT).
Is anyone familiar with RPAT? After working in the server IT space for years, I am interested if this can give me the same kind of remote, out-of-band, "lights-out" mgmt of the server? I'm travel a bit, it would be nice to be able to get VPD/environmental data remotely independent of the OS.
Intel's documentation on RPAT is sparse, but seems to imply that it works in conjunction with professional MSP/helpdesk services... can I set myself up as my own "helpdesk"?
Any info is appreciated.
