intel releases new ulv celerons

Here’s what we do know about each chip:

• 1.46 GHz Intel N2805 dual-core processor with 1MB of cache
• 2 GHz Intel N2810 dual-core processor with 1MB of cache
• 1.6 GHz Intel N2910 quad-core processor with 2MB of cache.

They’re all based on 22nm designs, and all sell for the same $132 price (although Intel will likely offer deals to vendors that order in bulk).

Maybe Intel will push haswell a little more upmarket and use these as a base.

No way these are Ivy Bridge based. 1MB of cache and quad core IB in a ULV envelope are both unheard of. Not to mention the Atom naming scheme as CPU-World pointed out. Everything (apart from the price) points to these as being Silvermont processors.

Celeron doesn't necessarily mean Ivy Bridge. I just find it difficult to believe that Intel would release a quad-core Celeron ULV when quad-core i7/i5/i3 ULVs don't exist at any price.

The 1MB for dual, 2MB for quad also matches the module layout of Silvermont:

Interesting...if this turns out to be true, then that 1.6ghz quadcore would be sweet in an HTPC setup.

They may call it a quadcore but at most there is 512kb per core. This might compete against Snapdragon quad processors.

I have an Intel Celeron Processor E3400 and I wonder how much better these chips would be?

It is for a business computer and nothing demanding like adobe or games for example.

Doesn't seem that strange to me - being only 1.6GHz w/o turbo and having only 2MB of L3 cache puts it in a totally different class compared to 35W i7s.

I agree that this looks like a response to Kabini.

It has to be atom. Same NXXXX naming scheme. Same core vs clockspeed ratios (1.6 quad, 2.0 dual). Same cache as the new atom. It makes no sense at all for it to be ivb. 4 ivb cores @ 1.6GHz and a gpu will not fit into that power envelope without some outrageously costly binning. There is no way. Not even 4 haswell cores would fit into that TDP. Not to mention they would have to all have HT disabled which is also stupid.

agree and that they now supposedly disappeared from he list again is pretty telling. maybe this is some viral marketing trick to check if they can sell an atom for such a price or everyone is just laughing at that price, which I am. I'm pretty sure Kabini performs better (of course with higher power usage) and hence they can hardly charge like double the price.
