Intel releases 24-core Broadwell-EX CPU for nearly $9,000

The E7-8894 v4 CPU has 24 cores, a base frequency of 2.4 GHz, and a maximum turbo frequency of 3.4 GHz. it will be interesting to see how this stacks up to upcoming 32-core Naples server CPUs by AMD.

Naples is unlikely to directly compete a whole lot with Broadwell-EX, especially 8s Broadwell-EX. The more obvious comparison point for Naples is the Purley platform, and to a lesser degree Power9 and whatever the ARM vendors cough up over the next year.

Most people who buy Broadwell-EP are buying 2P systems exactly where Naples is targeting . Hell how many people make 8S systems SGI and SGI?
