I guess Intel is feeling the competition a little. What you Think?

There is some interesting info from Intel in this article on

Unlocked Pentium?

Haswell MB with DDR4?

Processor refresh around Mid-Year

Haswell 8 core processor?
Probably about $1800 or higher.

Broadwell will have an unlocked CPU with Iris Pro Graphics for the desktop.
If these sell I imagine they will come at a premium cost. I bet someone will buy them.

Wow, an unlocked Pentium is quite something. Never thought they'd do this.

What competition exactly?

AMD APUs offer much better graphics than anything Intel has to offer at the moment.

AMD also offers "budget" unlocked chips, or a wider variety of unlocked CPUs, while Intel currently offers it on their $200+ chips.

I honestly do not see an unlocked dual core Pentium gaining much popularity if it's priced above $100, but we will have to wait and see.

It might just be $99 MSRP, I'm guessing. Over $100 is i3 / FX-6300 territory

how good do you think the haswell e will be?

so is broadwell just a die shrink with some more instruction sets and a video decoder?

what does this multi chip package mean?

It means they're putting the Crystal Well 128MB cache chip on the same package with Broadwell. Which is mostly good for the on-die GPU, but might help a few other applications too.

Competition say in a tablet. It is probably killing them and Microsoft Too.

On the bright side MS Stock was up to about $39 yesterday. Don't understand that.

MSFT has a new CEO who is more interested in making money than fighting for lost causes (dominance of Windows across all form factors).
