In the process of a new build using a Corsair M4 64GB/v009 SSD/SATA3.0 for caching and an Hitachi 1TB/SATA3.0 mechanical drive on an Asus P8Z68V/i5-2400, I've noticed that SpeedFan 4.45 loses the SMART data and the HD temp data when I activate acceleration in IRST. If I disable acceleration, close and restart SF445, it picks up the Hitachi HD temp and SMART data.
HWMonitor reports the Intel Raid 0 Volume temp regardless if SSD caching is enabled or not.
Windows 7/64 HP. BIOS 0902.
Is this normal behavior for Smart Response Technology?
I've never messed with a RAID scenario before, so maybe this is typical of a RAID. I see that HWMonitor reports the temp of the RAID 0 assembly regardless of whether or not acceleration is activated. But it never reports the Hitachi by name (as it does another mechanical drive in the system.)
Apart from that, I'm very impressed with RST. Performance-wise, it's not that far behind my SSD stand-alone drive and was pretty simple to setup. I used enhanced rather than maximum as the real world difference between the two appear to be pretty small.
Edit: let me make a correction. With SRT acceleration enabled, the C drive HD temp drops to 0 in SF4.45, but the data remains in HWMonitor. I don't see a refresh button, but believe HWMonitor continues to refresh pretty quickly.
If SRT acceleration is enabled and I crank up HWMonitor, there is no data for the C (accelerated) drive; same for SF4.45. But if I disable SRT hardware acceleration and restart both programs, the HD temp is available, but SF4.45 drops the data once SRT acceleration is again enabled, while HWMonitor seems to retain the HD temp data.
