Intel Rapid Storage ROM Issue

I installed Win7 x64 on a Samsung 256GB 840 Pro with BIOS SATA set to RAID Mode.

At CMD typing: "fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify" gives me a "0" so TRIM is wrking OK.

MB is an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 with an i7 2700K.

I've 3 WD Cavair Black HDD's. 2 older 500GB WD5001AALS and 1 newer 1TB Black. I've heard the WD5001AALS have TLER firmware and are suppose to work good in Raid-0 so my plan was to install the SSD and the 1TB on the Intel Sata 3 ports and the 2 WD 500's along with an ASUS Optic drive on the intel Sata 2 Ports.

I have both the Marvel and J Micron Controllers Disabled in BIOS.

I intend to run the 2 500GB's in RAID-0 on the Intel Sata 2 Ports.

The problem is that my ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 doesn't seem to bring up the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Option ROM utility when pressing <Ctrl> + <I> at Post to build the Array. It either just boots into Windows or the Monitors just hangs with a Black Screen.

I left the optic out of the equation and it still does the same thing.

Any Idea's ;o)

WAH!!!

P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 BIOS 3603(for Win7 & Win8)
For proper operation, please ensure to update Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to version 11.5.0.1207 and BIOS to version 3603 before enabling Intel Smart Response Technology.

Update procedure for users needing Intel Smart Response Technology:
(1) Enter OS, and ensure Intel Smart Response Technology has been turned off under Intel Rapid Storage Technology interface.
(2) Install version Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to version 11.5.0.1207
(3) Reboot the system, and update BIOS to version 3603, then reboot.
(4) Enter the BIOS setup screen, press F5 to load BIOS default, then change the Intel SATA Port to RAID mode.
(5) Boot into OS, and re-enable Intel Smart Response Technology under Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

Guess I gotta UpDate the BIOS and Driver - Sish!

That has nothing to do with not being able to get into the RAID BIOS setup, besides 1207 has a bad memory leak and was removed by Intel IIRC.

With ASUS check if your BIOS setting is set to "force BIOS" and not "keep current" or was that the other way around lol, it's been a while since I last used it.

I would think not getting into the RAID Utility would be a BIOS Issue but may be it was. I'll try Force BIOS rather then Keep Current and see if it will do it under the existing firmware - Thanks for your interest.

Thanks GURU that did it ;o)

A 10k rpm drive can take up to 0.1ms to spin round to get the data. Since they are around 7ms seek we know its mostly arm actuator movement that makes hard drives slow to seek.

Bright: I think you got too many browsers open - LOL

Issue was solved thanks to Dufus ;o)

My Platform:
Can't post all the details of my rig right now but I got an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 / an i7 2700k running INSANELY FAST between 4.6 to 5.2Ghz 24/7 between 36 to 67C under 1.4v with a Samsung 256GB Pro SSD and a few WD Black in Raid-0. H20 cooled Corsair H110 PSU. LOVE my Samsung MV-3V4G3D-US DDR3. It Blows all other Ram off the Scale.
