My kids love it. I bought one for work too. That was back when they sold them with the sound morpher. Excellent fun for young (and not so young) minds!!!!

I've got one of these & managed to lose the CD ROM part #, anyone willing to share theirs so I can upgrade to the XP driver? There's a physical CD rather than a download:(

(format: XXXXX-XXXX or XXXXXX-XXX)

If anyone has the CD part #, please PM me with it, thanks

Microscope shows up as $99.99 instead of $29.99 when I add it to the cart - anyone else having this problem?

awesome toy, and very useful. i showed up with one of these at work and my PI and another grad student each bought one. i use it on my bench for lab work and for fun too! i found out that at my roommate's lab, they have a few of them too at their bench. you will find a use for this if you buy it, even if it is just inspecting currency =)

These things are so cool. I bought 2 for our lab (cancer research etc) from CompGeeks last week, and all the other postdocs love the microscope. The stock lights are a little too dim for any resolution/contrast at 200X but are fine for kid stuff.
Here'sa link for how to modify it for better brightfield microscopy.
It doesn't compare to our $25,000 Zeiss Axiophot setup with epifluorescence etc but it's great for gross anatomy. Most things you'd use (in science) a dissecting scope for you could use this, and for about 1% of the cost, I'd guess.
The ones from Compgeeks were the QX3+ version, having the "+" means native support for Win2K and WinXP in the software.

We've shipped your Shop Intel(SM) order!

They shipped it same day!

Amazing - I never get any of these Anandtech limited quantity offers. :Q

By the way, if this one sells out, as mentioned above - Compgeeks has it in stock for $5 more (which is still a good deal).

There is also a coupon for free shipping available for Intel.com, so for me it was $29.95 plus $1.95 tax = $31.90 delivered. I see on *bay that there are plenty of these selling for $30+, but they don't say they're the QX3+ model (only QX3).

I saw 2 QX3 Intel microscopes on clearance at Target for 24.95 last weekend. You may want to check out your local Target first.

Shhhhweeeeeeet! I just bought the Intel digicam from their site. The kids have already been having fun with it, and they haven't even tried the special effects yet. I really shouldn't get the 'scope, but did I say "shhhhhweeeeeeet!"?

;)

Got mine. Ordered the 14th and it showed up the 16th with FREE ground shipping. Kids and I haven't played with it. Looks like it is OOS now.

Got mine ,what a nice scope this really is...but ,it does need a little brighter light to make it truly shine...
