can i put an intel quad Q6600 / Q6700 on my ECS P4M900T-M2 mobo?

ECS CPU support
BIOS for intel E5200 45nm

Foxconn mobos with P4M900 chipset - core 2 quad supported

i've search other mobo manufacturer with the same chipset but it is not supported.

gigabyte p4m900 cpu support
ASUS P5VD2-MX SE
MSI P4M900M3-F

i've already checked their official websites and they have the same data

and also, some mobos that doesn't support q6600 supports x6800

i'm a bit confused. my current cpu is intel e2140.

thanks for anyone who can help me.
thnx

Looks good to me. Some motherboards might not support the q6600, but will support the x6800, because of power requirements. x6800 is dual core, q6600 is quad.

same chipset http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chipset different cpu support on different manufacturers. why?

and also, the case on x6800 is the same with the q6600. if you would check the cpu support lists, others support it, others does not.

thanks for the reply anyway.
