Intel Processors: A vs B vs C?

What does the letter at the end of some Intel processors mean? For example, there is a 2.0A GHz, a 2.4B GHz and a 3.0C GHz. And I notice that some Intel chips don't have letters!

Can someone shed some light on this mystery for a confused person like myself?

Thanks.

A denotes 400mhz fsb, Northwood

B denotes 533mhz fsb

C denotes 800mhz fsb

The letters just stand for the different revisions of the same chip so that you can differentiate between the same speed chips.
If it doesn't have a letter, then it's probably a celeron, a Willamette, or a chip that only came in that one version (ie. 2.26Ghz), even though it could be a Northwood.

The 2.26 still denotes B.

True orion, it is still a B Northwood, but alot of sites selling it do not denote it with a letter, they just say 2.26Ghz Northwood and a 533Mhz bus,
just like the 2.66 since they are the only version of this speed (unlike the 2.4A, 2.4B, and 2.4C).

Actually a P4-2.26ghz is just a P4-2.26 because there is only one flavor of 2266mhz P4. Just like there's no letter behind P4-1.9, P4-2.2, P4-2.66, etc.

Intel uses letters to differentiate cpu's with the same clockspeed. i.e...

P4-2.0 = Willamette
P4-2.0a = Northwood

P4-2.26 = Northwood 533fsb

P4-2.4 = Northwood 400fsb
P4-2.4b = Northwood 533fsb
P4-2.4c = Northwood 800fsb

true, like what Wingznut said, Intel will only add the letter when there are two products with the same clockspeed but different bus
