I bought one of those guys and when I was investigating how to make it work in Win2k the solution I got was that Intel had no plans of ever supporting it under win2k, so I sent it back and got a 3Com.

Identical problem. I couldn't get it to work with W2K Pro. I received it as a gift from my wife. I finally gave up and trashed it. But, I had to have sex with Mrs. Carbo to soothe her hurt feelings. Shoulda' kept the damn camera.............

I dont understand why they would provide win2k drivers for this camera and and not win2k compatible software.. what a bunch of crap...

Looks like they wised up after nearly 2 years of stupidity.
Win2k drivers available
Towards the bottom it says to sign up for the newsletter and they tell you about new Create n Share to be available this month works in 2k and xp.

Also, IIRC, the camera is standard and once you have drivers (didn't realize you actually had working drivers at first) you should be able to use anything like TeVeo or Webcam32.

TeVeo is free and offers a lot of cool features. I use that sometimes, but it's a little hard to customize and impossible to tear free of TeVeo's involvement.

Webcam32 isn't free, but it's pretty reliable.

Works fine in 2k.
The 2000 drivers have been out for over a year now.

Looks like you guys should have taken the 13 seconds to research.

Looks like you should have taken 1 sec to STFU.

FYI, 2 years ago when I purchased an Intel PC-Camera Pro Pack, as it was being sold back then, I did plenty of research on why it wasn't working. I got the same response both from Intel's website and from an Intel CSR by e-mail.

What they said was: "Intel web cams are meant for home use only. Because Windows NT/2000 are considered to be for business use, we consider those operating systems beyond the scope of our target market. We have no intentions of developing NT/2000 drivers in the future."
I even wrote them an e-mail pointing out how stupid they were being because there are legitimate business applications for webcams and they were idiots for dumping that entire market sector.

Glad to see they wised up, too late for a number of us who already bought different cameras.
Sad to see you think you know what the situation was when you don't.

hey i know the drivers work fine as i indicated in my first post.. i was asking about the software though, which is still not win2k compatible...looks like maybe you shouldve taken the 13 seconds to read the rest of the thread eh??
and even if you were just trying to help, theres no need to be a smartass about it...

Jzero, thanks for the help...

Correcto! The problem is not the driver for W2K, even though Intel told me the same crap about W2K not being for home use. When they finally came out with a driver, the geniuses there didn't think it was necessary to update their Create and Share software. I'd given up until it was linked in this thread that W2K compatable software is on the way. I'm looking forward to see if it works.
