Hi, I am buying a latitude D505. One question is which miniPCI to choose. They have the same price. The Intel one is 802.11b while the DELL one is 802.11b/g (dual mode). Which one is better? Does Centrino technology require Intel 2100 miniPCI? Thx

I wouuld say that if you can get it get the B/G that way you have the ability to connect to Gwireless if there is an aval wap. Now as for the question of will it work with Centrino i can't say for sure. I tryed going to the dell site but all i get for that model is there used section.

Centrino isn't a technology, it's a package composing of the pentium-m cpu, the pentium-m chipset, and the intel pro 2100 wireless board. If you don't get the intel wireless then it won't officially be a Centrino. But who cares, it works, and you can call it whatever you want. The main selling point of the centrino package is the pentium-m cpu, it's fast, efficient, and doesn't suck up power.

I'd get the Dell card because you have the capability to do 802.11g. More future proof I'd say.

I got the Dell card over the Intel trumobile only because free. It's even worth the 50 dollar upgrade if you shall find the need to pay for it. I got the D600 anyway.
