DO NOT "LINKIFIED" THIS LINK! If Intel finds so many people finding this promo from Anandtech they may SHUT IT DOWN, so just cut-n-paste the following link:

http://www.intel.com/network/go/cat5/

"Now you can open up the floodgates with 10/100/1000 ? yes, Gigabit ? speeds over your existing copper infrastructure. Intel offers Gigabit adapters that perform on multiple operating systems, with advanced server features such as fault tolerance and adaptive load balancing."

It says "one trial kit (2 units) per company site" when you want to check out (buy items) it just requests the basic billing/shipping info, so I guess anybody with the money to spare could pick up two of these adapters, 50% off not too shabby!

Just to let you know, we have some of these (got them free for a trial) at work. They get around 250 MB performance...no where near the gigabit performance they claim. Also, you need CAT6 rated cabling to get that level of speed. So...it is faster, but not as fast as they say (kind of like 56K modems :) ).

Isn't 250MB/sec performance the absolute top speed for gigabit ethernet?

1Gbit divided by 8 bits = 125Mb * 2 (full duplex) = 250Mb

I personally can't think of a single PC system that can handle that kind of bandwidth anyways.
Even a 64-bit PCI interface (SCSI) card can only handle 266M max, right?

MightyMan,
well IBM Deskstar 60GXP HDDs can handle internal transfer rates of up to 464Mbps I believe, but external of only 100Mbps, however these adapters will most likely make sure you meet those requirements :p , if you need...

either way, 50% off... can't beat that with a stick!
