Intel Price Drops???

Does anyone know when we will see the price drop on Intel chips that are referenced via this article

theyve dropped a little this week but nowhere near what i was expecting. im waiting as well. the 1ghz has dropped the most, all the way down to 265 now , but the 800e that i covet keep going up , WTF is up with that?

I noticed the 800E climing in price also. I'm watching the 1Ghz SECC2 since I can just drop it in my BE6-2. 🙂

The price cuts were on the high end. That is why you see the big drop in items like the P4 and 1GHz P3.

The official prices for lots of 1,000 are:

P3 600 -> 700 : $143
P3 733 : $163
P3 750 : $163
P3 800 : $183
P3 850 : $193
P3 866 : $193
p3 933 : $241
P3 1GHz: $268

PriceW@tch shows that some people are selling P3s below these prices. I suspect that they either:

a) Are clearing out inventory
b) Get slightly better deals for lots larger than 1,000.

Still I do not expect that the price of a P3 will fall much below $100 anytime soon. Only the ancient P3 450 is below $100 right now.

I think the drop is pretty much where it is going to be for at least a few more weeks anyway. Most of the drops actually took place even before this week.
