The end of last year was exciting with the release of new CPU and GPUs, that all these re-hashes are making me bored. *sigh*

i like the Core i7-975 just under a grand. but seriously, if i got that cash probably just get a 920 and oc to 3.6-8. I think out of all the price changed Q9300 is looking pretty tasty for me. quad with a nice low price except there's no gurantee which version of the core you will get for 9300.

Does anyone know if Intel have confirmed the dates in the Digitimes article? I noticed it said: 'according to sources at motherboard makers'. I wonder if these are the same sources for Fudzilla.

I'll be chuffed if the release date for the I7 950 has been brought forward to 31st May 2009, since The Tech Report (and others rehashing the same news) indicated in a February article that it would be released [sometime] in June 2009:

and the S line were more expensive than the non-S line.

The Q9650 is $320 now...so after these price cuts the Q9550S will cost what the faster Q9650 costs now.

WTF is the "Pentium Dual-Core E6300" listed on the second table (May 31) for $84?

Hadn't heard they were launching a new E6x00 series...

EDIT: And if they're releasing the i7 950 @ $562 they should also cycle down the i7 940 & i7 920 somewhat.

If the i7 940 gets down to around $350, I'll buy one. Otherwise I will continue to wait for i5 and see how it performs.

I thought the 950 was replacing the 940 (i.e. 940 will no longer be sold), rather than being added to the I7 line up

It's probably just a rebadged C2D e6300 (1.86GHz Conroe 2MB cache) that they had lying around and are now selling as bargain Pentiums.

I hope you're wrong, that would suck - 65nm chips, slower clockspeed than e5200, Conroe vs Penryn architecture and priced higher than the e5300?

Ah, so they bumped up the FSB speed.

Also remember that the previous E6300 was a Core 2 Duo E6300. This new one is a Pentium Dual Core E6300, so it's a different CPU name even if the code number seems the same.
So it's just an E5xxx with 1066 instead of 800MHz FSB (which means "tougher" overclocking, almost - i.e. you might need more than a budget P43 with budget RAM, like a budget P43 with slightly less budget RAM.)
