Intel Pentium IV and Active Monitor

Hi,

I have downloaded the latest version of Intel Active Monitor from the intel web site. When I try and install the same it starts to install and then says that "The exisiting version of Intel Active Monitor will now be removed from your system.........Do you wish to continue?" I choose "Yes" and its says that "Intel Active Monitor" can only be installed on a computer based on an Intel Motherboard". I have checked with my computer technician and he says that it is an original Intel 850 GB mother board.

Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance. I thought of posting my whole sysinfo but decided it would be huge...if there is a clarification, please do ask....I worry that I got palmed a fake motherboards....thanks.

Try uninstalling Active Monitor before installing the latest version (though it shouldn't matter). I'm using the latest verson right now and it installed without any problems.

Anand provides a system spec page for members which I suggest you to fill out. It's free and helps for others to look at your system specs. Click on my anandtech on the home page. You can fill out the information there.

Hey,

Thanks....I did post my System Info....and the problem is I tried uninstalling the previous version but the uninstaller hung before it finished and now it has left the
whole thing in limbo! No entry in the control panel and a messed up registry....so i cleaned the reg file up using a cleaner....but no luck...so i am stuck now!
Let's see how it goes...I'll call the Intel helpline and see if they can help. Will keep posting.

Hey Bumsy....found this bit of info for ya regarding Active Monitor, I just downloaded program myself, and seen your post.
Hope it's of some help.

<< Attention only Microsoft* Windows* XP Users: Intel Active Monitor may not work or uninstall properly if you have upgraded your system from Windows NT* or Windows 2000, or if you have installed an earlier Intel Active Monitor (prior to version 1.15) on a Windows XP system. Please download and run this patch [EXE 1.2 MB] on your XP system to help solve the above problems. After running this patch, please upgrade to the latest version of Intel Active Monitor for the best support of Microsoft Windows XP. >>

Maybe ya seen this but just in case.

Hmm...

Well it looks like you are using winme, which I used only once. Not sure if that could be your problem there.

It seems though now your problem is even bigger then just getting active monitor to install, let alone uninstall. You may have to reformat that puppy to get things back to normal.

Are you using the latest bios for your GB?

I am using Windows ME....NOX....I did download the latest version of the bios update for the 850GB and intsall it before I put in Acyive Monitor....I really hope reformatting is not the only option....but if it is....I may as well upgrade to XP as well...!!!

Cheers!
