Intel Pentium III 800Mhz & D815EEAL Board - good deal?

I have the opportunity to purchase the following and just wondered if it sounded like a good deal or not. I need to build a new PC and may take advantage of the offer.

$199.00 + Shipping/handling + Sales tax (if applicable):
One (1) Boxed Intel® Pentium® III processor 800EB MHz (133 FSB, FC-PGA)
One (1) Boxed Intel D815EEAL Desktop Board with 133MHz bus, integrated ADI 1885 soft audio, integrated Intel® PRO/100 V Network Connection and Intel 3D Graphics

Both for 199 ? sounds great.

See the Box 800 is probably around 175-215 so its like getting hte mobo for free.. then go on e8ay and get rid of the board and get like a CUSL2 or MSI 815e pro..

The presentation kernal386.exe errors weren't terrribly inspiring (at the prez I attended). Maybe it was just that they were using Windows Me? Oh well, I bet the new P4 will solve that, right😉

Looks like we're saving $100 - $150 on the combo?

Not a lot of info on the D815EEAL desktop board anywhere - including Intel's site. I think it's mainly aimed at system builders/integrators.

thats a pretty good board if you aren't overclocking. The guy jerry pournelle at byte.com uses them all the time.

Technically if Intel catches you reselling it, you're liable to get your pants sued off. (I ordered one, and both the mobo and P3 are sitting right next to me, don't have a case to put it in yet but have all the other components) I guess if you didn't ship it out in the package it came with (it has "chips n tips" marked over both boxes) they can't really catch you. It is a good deal though, as you cant purchase the P3-800 alone for $200

Have this board and if you not into overclocking - this one is top stable and no problems so far.
Running Win Me.
You also get Intel LAN, 4 MB graphics and Audio.
The online documentation can be found under system developpers - just go search for d815e (don't remember exactly). There is a 100 pages manual available for this board online - try get one these for any other brand. The Intel support is also top (if you need one).

That Intel mobo is better than both the Asus CUSL2 and the MSI 6337. The CPU is really the problem, it's an 800EB, so O/C'ing is pretty much out of the question, at least nothing major. Thus, you might as well keep the Intel mobo to use with it. It's a rock, plus you've got 10/100 built-in.

Also, there's plenty of info, patches, etc., on that board at Intel's site, you just need to make sure you're in the developer's section.
