Hi: I purchased 2 PCs and I'm only keeping one. One is an Intel Pentium Dual E2140 1.6 Ghz; the other is a Pentium D 925 3.0 Ghz. They both have 1GB of RAM... Which one is better? I do not do any gaming...just basic Microsoft Office, some home video editing, web surfing... I'm sure either of them are far more than what I need - but just want to keep the better of the two.

I know the E2140 is better on power consumption. That's about it. I do NOT need any kind of a detailed answer in terms of overclocking... Just the basics.

Thanks,

Dave

Welcome to the forums !

As for which one is better, well, you already know the power consumption, and also the heat goes with that. As far as speed, at stock, I think the 2140 is better, but I would need benchmarks to confirm. However, once you OC the 2140 to 3.0 or better, its no contest....

The E2140 is an entry level chip using Intel's recent designs. The 3ghz P4 is what used to be at the fairly high end of Intels offerings a few generations ago. Grab the E2140.
