Hi Folks,

NewEgg seems to distinguish between motherboards that support the Intel Core i3-2xxx processors and the Intel Pentium Dual Core processors like the G620T.

Can I put the G620T into a motherboard like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131712

It's an ASUS P8H67-M LE (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 motherboard.

Or, am I limited to only the 1 or 2 motherboards listed by NewEgg?

Thanks in advance...

When in doubt just click on details then manufactures product page on the newegg site. Once your their just click on the CPU compatability list and check :)

Yes the CPU you stated is compatable with the MB in your link....Only thing is it states bios version 0801 or higher is required. It looks like the current version is 0803 dated 5-6-11 so I doubt the board would ship with a older bios than you needed.

Yep, I should have checked. So, once I have the board in my hands, is there a way to tell before booting it up what BIOS version it has?

There is no guarantee that when you go to upgrade the bios in an asus board it will actually work. I will never trust asus, and the enthusiast community is completely ignorant and untrustworthy on this subject.

Not sure if you can....But if it helps the 0801 bios is dated 4-1-11 so the odds are in your favor anyways.

I've never had a problem with an Asus MB or any MB as a matter of fact with bios flashing. Guess it's possible that some MB's are semi-doa and won't take the flash tho. Guess it also could be a result of how one goes about flashing the bios at the same time.

I generally work with Gigabyte boards. Would you recommend the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128491 mobo? It is the Gigabyte GA-H67MA-USB3-B3 board. __________________

Gigabyte makes some nice boards. If it makes you more comfortable going that way then do it. Of course looking at the cpu compatability list you'd have no worries as they all state the same bios revision as working.

I take the no fear route and get what I want. Reading all the horror stories seem to cover just about every part you can put in the rig! In the world of cheap/quick production it seems like all manufacturers have issues!

That is unfortunately true. When I read the negative reviews on NewEgg, I am astonished by the lack of technical knowledge of those posting reviews that give 3 eggs or less. Many times, they didn't even read what NewEgg advertised about the product.

But still, when I look at these boards and see only 50% gave the board 5 eggs, it makes me wary.

This is definitely true. When I see 3/5 or less, some may be the results of poor tech knowledge but a ton of 'DOAs' should make anyone wary. I definitely take a look at the reviews for some items, others like RAM, CPUs, etc. it is essentially worthless. HDDs, video cards, and monitors the reviews can be very useful and sometimes point out conflicts between advertised specs and how they may actually work. I have been alerted to conditions before that made me look elsewhere based on others' experiences.
