Interesting...I had my P4 at 2.4GHz and it was quite stable in windows but when I went to run a Sandra CPU bench, it gave a Windows XP error. So I dropped it back down to 2.25GHz.
Well, once I got back into Windows at 2.25GHz/125MHz bus and installed PCMark2002 and was looking around (this is the first time I've ever used the program) at the System Info page. It showed my P4 internal clock correctly at 2.25GHz. But it also had a listing that said MAX internal clock of 2.34GHz.
So I dropped back into the BIOS and set the CPU to it's default 1.8GHz and booted back into windows. Again, it correctly listed the current internal clock speed but gave a max internal clock of 2.36GHz.
Does Intel somehow imprint this data into the chip, or is PCMark just reading something out of BIOS and making it's own conclusions?
