Intel P4 now or AMD Hammer later?

I'm in the market for a new rig. I was was thinking of an Intel system with a cheapo but fast Albatron PX845PEV Pro as well as a P4 2,53 that would possibly hit 3 Ghz.

Fact is, I don't need it now, but rather want it. Should I wait for the Athlon 64bit Hammer CPU? Or will I be the guinea pig just like the first Athlon (more VIA) users were?

Should I buy or should I wait?



P.S. What about a Granite Bay board, maybe a P4G8X?

that's a good way to go as it won't bankrupt ya and you still have a really fast new toy to play with 😛
