Intel P4 E-0 Stepping information

Hello AT,

Im upgrading to a new P4E soon and was wondering when the new E-0 stepping chips are going to start to hit the shelves. Im interested in 64 bit support and possibly better overclocking with the step. Im staying with intel because i already have an LGA775 mobo and dont want to make the AMD switch right now (although if i had the money id take the dive).

Can anyone link me to any info on the E-0s?

and a 2ndary question, is 64 bit windows beta even feasible in using yet? I havent checked recently but the last i knew games were running far slower (25-50%) in 32 bit on WinXP-64 than WinXP or 2k.

After poking around a little i found THG has a short review on the E-0 chip and talks about the new virus protection and thermal features of the chip, it makes no mention of 64 bit support.

They also say the E-0s are "available now" although i dont see anyone advertising any of these new features in their prescott product descriptions.

If you mean E0 stepping Prescotts or 64bit support? I seriously doubt it. Intel is discontinuing socket 478 cpu production are they not?

Correction, Newegg has the 3.8ghz 570J available, there are no other J models to indicate E-0 steppings.

Where are you 540J 🙁
