will a Intel Pentium 4/ 2.26 GHz 533MHz FSB, 512K Cache - Retail
be faster than a amd 2500+ ?

Surfing the web really wouldn't matter. As for the gaming I would say the AMD 2500+. The Barton is also an excellent overclocker.

about =, go for the mobile 24-2600 get a good board like an Nf-7 and hope for 2.4 ghz or better. even at 2Ghz (easily possible) it will leave the P4 behind. pray for 2.4Ghz.

the thing is i already have a intel mb with a intelceleron 2.0
i put together a comp for a friend with a 2500+ and its way faster than mine
so im just rtying to get a new cpu about as fast or faster than the 2500
really dont want to spend more than $140

abit off topic, but how do 800fsb p4c's-about 2.6- stack up against the 2500+for gaming? R they worth the extra dinero?

amd xp line sucked.. i am using a mobile clocked at 2.4.. i wish i woulda gone with a intel..
on the other hand amd64 is where its at

I am using a 2500xp M Barton and I am very happy with it... along with 1024mb of PC3200 and the DFI Infinity I would say it kills it's Intel counter part. Its only at 11x200fsb too (2200mhz) ... I am benching 18k with a 9800pro on 3D Mark 2001. Not too shabby for a PC under a grand.

I say AMD for sure.
