Intel or AMD? The Battle Rages On...

Just a 2003 update of current technologies, which is ahead and which has the brighter future?

This thread is not achieving anything new.

Intel is definitely ahead right now, but the future..? That's difficult to say.
It is possible that with the advent of the Hammer, AMD can finally win business over, which would be good for them. After all, AMD processors are usually a much better deal for business applications, whereas the Pentium IV has the gaming crown. But AMD needs to make money soon to keep going.

I think that the AMD is severely crippled by it's limiting FSB, being stuck at 333 while intel blazes on an 533 and beyond. DDR is virtually useless with AMD's, and is a waste of money. AMD needs to start changing their battle plan.

That quote right there shows how little you know...IMO.

Also, thanks for starting yet another AMD vs. Intel thread...lord knows we haven't had many of those around here..

Yup.

reddog418: Yet the Athlon performs similar to the "superior" P4, how could it be? Hell, the P4 has a significant mhz lead too, Athlon must suck, right? Maybe the P4 just sucks? Not really, it is simply a case that arbitrary differences mean nothing when comparing 2 very different processor designs.

an athlon xp running with a 333mhz fsb somehow competes nicely with a pentium 4 running at much higher frequencies and nearly double the fsb. hmmmm, i'll let you decide who's crippled.
