Well the best player or race car driver can win with or without the fastest machine!!! The best player int the world using a k6-2 300 can whip both you and me on a 1ghz!!! So whats your point? Like I said before down to earth daily usage we do not need these 1ghz systems! Just makes the programmers for software sloppier developers!

I'm with Evilfett on this one... some professional users need 1GHz machines because of the very cpu intensive tasks they run. If it means cutting a few hours of renderingjobs it might be a good solution. However for gamers the trick is to find the sweetspot where you're not handicapped by your machine. Personally I got a huge boost in frags going from a K6-2 to an Athlon 650, but going from my Athlon 650 to an Athlon 900 (or 1GHz for that matter) doesn't give anything.

Yes stupid as in Aluminum and copper interconectors. big deal the big difference in this is how high they will clock there is no platform difference between the 2 or performance. although the copper ones may OC better.

I guess we got off track there LOL!!!!! I was talking about the T-Bird and Duron not being all that new and all that different from Athlon classic and there ability to overclock. they should overclock as well or better but that has not been realized as of yet. I think they may never

Pictures are a funny thing they can be easily edited. If he really has these scores in 3dmark then tell him to publish them and I will say man thats a awesome setup but until then I will have to say it means nothing.

Another very wierd thing is half the Sisoft benchmarks are done with the old version and the other are done with the new. It seems awfully funny to me.

If you guys think you need 1ghz machines...guess again...If you are a gamer...a Duron 600 and a Gts will carry you fine...look @ anandtech's last post....P3 1.13ghz...look @ the SMALL diff between a 1ghz P3 and a 600mhz Duron...what...10fps....yeah 10fps is really worth 100-450.00 more isn't it?...no way...I have a P3 650e cb0@ 806mhz 64mb ram and a Viper2 and I get over 60fps in Unreal Tournament @ 1024x768 with every detail on...If you think you need 1ghz...you just want to BRAG and say you have a "1GHZ" computer and that it beats any other system...well woop-te-doo...just because someone didn't pay over 250.00 for a cpu doesn't mean they can't compete with you in anything...I think 1ghz is flat out over-kill...who needs 150fps in a game? that is plain-out overkill...besides...It doesn't matter in the long run...Anyways...

well an update for you guys I just got my 700 cbo to run @ 155 fsb!
1085 mhz wasnt very stable but I did get a new 3dmark of 7987 just to beat NOS! I have to admit I dont think those scores from the tbird ar legit cause they aint posted on 3dmark's web site.also from what I read only the legit 950 and 1000 mhz socket a cpu's are in copper none of the others so good luck finding that cu durwalk. :p
just jerking chains dont get your panties in a bind! My last advise in this thread is Get whichever one you feal best with if you use specview go with a tbird,if you play quake go with a p3 if you just surf and want to send email go with a durwalk! :D

If you play Q3 go with a P3? WHY should anyone go with a P3 to play Q3? 150fps? As you know this is a multiplayer game and I'm guessing you play on the net, dont you? So you are never going to see those scores in reality. I use my server for e-commerce purposes so I cant play you, but if I could I think my duron and I would have fun with your 1085mhz P3. LOL!

I would go for a PIII700. I've built 2 athlon systems for friends and those things run HOT at default voltage/speed. For the most part PIIIs are more expensive, but the 700 is quite the steal. I hit a gig with mine and am quite pleases by the results.

What H82BBAD isn't telling is that to get that rig of his to 1085 mhz I had to give him a heat sink for his clock generator for him to get it remotely stable and then he only beat me by 9 point LOL!!!!! So I should get the credit for that don't ya think?? :)
