Intel or AMD for future Windows ?

I am interested to go for an AMD processor for my next new PC. But some of my friends recommends me not to go for AMD as most of the new/upcoming versions of Windows (like Windows 2003, Longhorn, etc.) are more 'linked' with Intel. Is this true ? Will I be having any problems with new Windows versions if I use AMD ?

I dont know much about this topic, but I have heard that there is a version of Windows XP 64, made to run with the AthlonFX 64 processor.

Intel is having to design their new 64 bit design on the basis of how AMD is making there chips, for the first time in a long time AMD set a major standard completly on their own with little outside involvment.

Absolutely not. This is pure BS. You can tell them that I say they are a bunch of Fvcktards.

Not at all. AMD still has about 25% market share. 25% is still a large chunk when you look at the overall number of CPUs being sold. M$ wouldnt make its software work better with one CPU then the other, it would be like shooting themselves in the foot!! Especially with the stronger competition that linux is giving it!!
