Hello all,
I am going to build a new computer for college later this year (July '01). It with be one big system, entirely SCSI, faster video card available and the like. My question is, is that it seems that it makes no sense in purchasing a Pentium 4 because the new socket (socket 423) will be replaced by the even newer socket 478 (is that right?). This new P4 will be called "Northwood," but I need to know, if anyone could conjecture, if this processor will be out my July. I would like to go AMD, but their processors have issues with video editing, which is what this computer will be primarily used for. Also, I need a motherboard chipset that will handle LOTS of RAM. If the RAM is cheap enough (not Rambus), I'd go for a gig of RAM, or at least 768 MBs. Thanks in advance.
