I'm thinking about upgrading my laptop process since its upgradable to the new Merom processor. I bought a Celeron 1.46 Ghz to be a temporary processor until the Meroms came out. Do you guys think its worth the upgrade? I play games on my system and everything runs fine except for Company of Heros. I really doubt the processor will help a lot but I'm sure it will do something.

My systems is a Asus S96J barebone with

a ATI X1600

2 gigs of ram

Those are the significant parts for gaming.

It all depends on what you want, if it's just for games, a T5500 sounds perfect, since they say they're entirely GPU limited nowadays. But if you also do even moderate multimedia stuff, I'd take it up to one of the T7x00s, even if it's the slowest one.

It also depends on how long you're going to keep this laptop and what you want to resell it for, if anything. For a simple gaming laptop for today, any Core 2 should do well, but if you want to resell you know how the general public loves Ghz.

Thanks for the advice. I plan on keeping this laptop for at least 2 years (for college) and probably beyond that. I don't really plan on selling it, my Mom will probably use it once I'm done with it.
