Intel-Mac "PC" SODIMM compatibility?

Anyone have a good link to compatibility issues when using "PC" ram in the new intel-based mac laptops? Just seems ridiculous to pay $575 for 3gb of ram. Seems to me that you should be able to drop in just about anything, but you never know...
 
Apple systems use normal PC RAMs but are a bit sensitive on timings. So bottom-of-the-$2-bin-noname-RAM might not work. Either chose a Mac certified product or a normal one from a store with good take back warranty. I'd never buy additional RAMs at Apple, the prices are just cruel.
