I've got a pretty weird issue on my Intel J1900 HTPC (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/PC-f...W-Power-HDMI-VGA-dual-display/2040863442.html).

The problem is when connected to the external power source (all other cables are disconnected) and the turn-on button is pressed, it just gives one quick red blink (LED1 on the motherboard) and does nothing. When trying to power on for the second time, it won't even blink. After disconnecting the external power source and let it cool off for about 10 seconds (green led on power source turns off) and connecting it again to the mini-pc and pressing the power-on button, the red motherboard LED at least blinks again, but the computer does nothing again.

About once in 20 times the computer starts up and then everything is ok. The computer can then ran for 5+ weeks without any problem. Even soft restart is not a problem. When powered off and immediately powered on, it starts up in about half of the time. Otherwise it just dies out like before..

I thought there was a problem with power source (unbranded 12 V, 3 A), so I've bought a new one (branded 12 V, 4 A), and it helped for about a month (no problem powering on), but afterwards the issue started again even with the new power source.

I'm totally baffled with the fact that sometimes the computer turns on like there is no issue. What can be the problem?

Your power supply is triggering its GPF system. There is a short somewhere.

Thank you! You were right!

After I removed the mSATA SSD harddrive the computer repeatedly booted up without a problem. So I have changed the harddrive and everything works perfectly!
