Intel is playing the Conroe hand very well

They demo this chip against the predicted fastest AMD chip at launch and even give up 266MHz but Conroe is still faster.

They set prices for Conroe at 2.67GHz at $530. This will obviously savage the comfy zone AMD has had for over a year for the high end $1000 parts. I can't see how the FX part won't come down to Conroe pricing.

Then I bet Intel will OWN the $1000 part pricing with a version of Conroe at 3GHz or higher with more cache or something like that.

Pretty clever actually.
