Intel i975x based motherboard support

hey
im ought to buy in 2-3 weeks a new computer based on an intel i975x board
and a pentium d 930 or 940
my question is will this board be futureproof and support conroe?
or will presler be the last processors it actually support?
i waited some time for tis upgrade and i hope it can be future proof else maybe i shall wait more?

Intel rarely future-proofs it's chipsets/boards. New CPU's usually mean a new chipset, new pin design, etc. It's quite annoying.

Conroe isnt until Q4 of 06. More than likely you will have to get a new board, but the Pressler is going to be a great CPU as well.

If you wanted to be future proof, never buy a board and processor. As you purchase one an new one is on it's way. You can always sell the 975 later.....
