weird, I got this deal in my email the morning I posted and never knew they had a previous deal on this. And the ad had all this Christmas/winter theme to it

Picked up my CPU yesterday ;)

Now waiting for my newegg order to ship...

ASUS P6X58D Mobo
3GB x3 Corsair RAM
Corsair 120GB SSD
EVGA nVidia GTX470
Corsair 850HX PSU

Hope it all works out!

I don't have time to build a new machine till January... I was planning on spending ~200 on the CPU.

Should I get this now or will this kind of deal/better deal still be available in Jan?

If anyone here has a MC close to them and is willing to hook a long time AT member up, drop me a PM.

This is no sale...just MC's everyday, normal price.

It's been like this ever since they ran out of 930s....which were on sale for $180.00 'till they went OOS.

To be fair, for a while they were $220 or $230, but yeah for a couple months they've been $200.

went with a i7 870 ($230) and decided not to mess with the 1366. If I had a 1366 mobo though...

So the deal is only good for in-store pickup? Im in Oregon and no Micro center here, can we still order online?

In store only.

The idea is that you come in for the chip and leave with a complete build.

Wow, going in for a $199 item and being talked into possibly leaving with $1000+ of stuff? Not saying it's really bait and switch but..

Still bummer there's no MC here in Ore.. $199 for that i7 950 is sweet. Ive been waiting on buying it from newegg for $294 hoping the price might drop there but nope.

No other stores anyone knows of that offers this cpu for a better / lower price then $294 that can ship to Ore?

It's not bait and anything....many stores do this with loss leaders.

There's people that "turn" these on Ebay all the time.

You wanna send me 280.00.....I'll send ya one.

As Old Hippie said, loss leader and not bait/switch. Bait and switch is them advertising one thing, but not selling it to you and pressuring you to buy something else.

It is a partial loss leader. A loss leader is something sold at a loss strictly to gain foot traffic in case the shopper picks up something else. The Micro Center sales persons will ask if you need anything else, but they usually aren't very high pressure, like "do you have a triple channel DDR3 kit to go with that?" Some of them will even talk overclocking and games with you. :awe:

Just picked one up as a Xmas present from Tustin.

Don't need one anymore. I put a 930 into an Asus P6TD Deluxe and am getting 4ghz at default voltage, no other tweaks. I am a happy man.

I plan to run SMP F@H on it all night. If it passes that, I should be pretty sure that it's stable.
