Intel Hyperthreading

I thought only 3Ghz+ cpus supported hyperthreading. We have a dual P4 Xeon 2.0Ghz server - i turned hyperthreading on, and voala, it worked. Did intel change their design recently?
 
All Prestonia XEONs, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0+ GHz have Hyperthreading.

Desktop processors do not have hyperthreading until 3.06GHz.
