if they paid the 1,25bn doesn't that mean they no longer in trouble with the government over this? can they just do whatever they wanted now.

No. That was just for the AMD anti-trust lawsuit.

They can still be in trouble with the government. AMD is just not allowed to actively assist them now.

thats how i remembered it as.

Intel Paid AMD to say, "we can not answer those questions anymore at this time."

More like "Hi, we've settled our differences, and we have no more complaints against Intel." A more pro-active please-drop-the-charges-against-them approach instead of just sounding like a bribed official. At least, as I understood it when Anand covered it.
