Hallo!
Im building a gaming rig and i plan to buy graphics card after 2-3 months from now..
My rig is
CPU :i5 4690k
RAM :2x4 GSKILL RIPJAWS x 1866 CL8
SSD :SAMSUNG 850 PRO 256GB
MB : ASROCK FATAL1TY Z97X KILLER

My question is.. should i use the 4600hd gpu comes integrated with the cpu or my old 8600gt 512mb?? Which will give me more fps on games (world of warcraft, league of legends,cs go)?

someone told me the HD 4600 was not much slower than an HD 4670, and the HD 4670 is more like a 9600GT (2x the specs of the 8600GT) than the 8600GT,

also checking some 3dmark scores (difficult to compare because the 8600GT is normally tested with slow CPUs) it seems like there is a significant difference...

so I would go with the HD 4600.

thank you very much... but hd4600 will use 4690k and gskill for processing and memory.. does this will affect overall performance? sorry for my english :p

Overclock the HD4600 to 1.4GHz or more, if you can OC the memory above 1866MHz even better.

Not really no.

Just use the HD4600 until you buy a new GPU. You can also keep using it after you get a new GPU for extra screen, quicksync etc.

I know for a fact cs:go will run on your hd4600, i ran medium 768p and wouldn't really drop under 60 on my hd4000 .

How do you do that? I have tried that on a couple of systems, and I couldn't get a signal from the igp when a discrete card was installed.

In regards to the op, I think the HD4600 should be faster, depending on how good the driver support is for a given game. My suggestion is just test a few games with and without the 8600 gt and see which is better.

It requires BIOS/Mobo support. But else its simply straight forward. Enable it in BIOS and use it next to your GPU.

than you!!! if i oc hd4600 will it raise my cpu temps??
i ordered a cheap but good cooler "CM hyper 212 evo" will it handle that oc?

the 8600gt would potentially be a tiny bit faster overall but the 256mb would hurt it. might as well just stick with the 4600.

Also, don't expect tons out of overclocking the HD4600. Mine doesn't go above the stock 1250Mhz.

what you mean doesnt go?? i saw ppl on youtube run it at 1.4 easily

It depends on how lucky you get. Every CPU has slightly different overclocking limits- some "golden" CPUs like Balla's ridiculously good one will get amazingly high overclocks. On the other hand some will barely be overclockable at all.

And yes, overclocking your integrated GPU will increase your CPU temperatures.

Last questions ^^
1. what exactly do you mean golden?? same cpu but better "quality"?
2. will overclocking the igpu decrease the lifespan of cpu if temperatures are normal? (i have cm 212 evo and a.c. mx4 paste i think they will keep it cool)

1. Pretty much. One 4690k will overclock better than another 4690k. Both of them will run at stock absolutely fine, with no problems- this is what Intel guarantees when it brands its CPUs at a certain performance level and TDP rating. Any overclocking potential is a "freebie", and can vary significantly from chip to chip. It's all down to variations in the manufacturing process. A "golden" CPU is one which overclocks insanely well compared to the average- think of it as the top 1% of CPUs. Sometimes you just get lucky. Conversely you might get unlucky and get a CPU from the bottom 1% which barely overclocks past 1.2GHz.
2. It depends how much you overclock, and whether you start increasing your voltages. General consensus seems to be that mild overclocking at stock voltage won't reduce your CPU lifespan, but there's no guarantee. As always with overclocking, you do it at your own risk!

To be honest, my recommendation would be to not bother overclocking the iGPU much- it's never going to be that fast, in the grand scheme of things. I'd focus more on saving up some money and buying yourself a proper graphics card to go with your (great) CPU.

Enjoy your new PC!

Just don't burn out your CPU hoping to get a few more frames out of what is a worthless GPU overclocked or not.

Also, until you get a real card, I wouldn't bother overclocking anything.

Would go for the Nvidia, performance being pretty even they win for actually updating drivers with game fixes.
