What series was the HD2500 on. I dont recall it. I am pretty sure though that the HD3000 is the highest performing IGP from intel.

Better for what? For watching movies, daily tasks, etc either will be fine. Don't expect to game though even on the HD 4000, unless you either like lowest detail & resolution graphics or slideshows...

I'd expect they would have named it HD3500 if it was an overall improvement over HD3000. Guess Intel is setting expectations about right with "almost Llano GPU". Trinity will need to deliver, because Intel CPU + Llano graphics would be a killer mainstream notebook chip.

Which one will be better?

Early tests indicate HD 2500(Ivy Bridge) perform equal to HD 3000(Sandy Bridge) at same clocks. That supports Intel's claims that each EUs are twice as powerful as the one in Sandy Bridge.

Translation says:

HD2500 15.26.0.2500
900 Mhz Vantage GPU: 1150
1500 Mhz Vantage GPU: 2022

HD 3000 at 1100MHz: 1361

"Mathematically, one would HD2500 with 1150 Mhz ~ 1470 points in what I do not think bad for 6 EUs. With the same driver creates my HD3000-1100 Mhz 1361 GPU points. The efficiency doubled by rule of thumb.

Since Intel choose 2500 name tag, I assume its less than the 3000.
That said, no clue, but if it was faster I think Intel would have called it like 3100 or something.

Thank you IntelUser, however mathematically HD2500 'would' score 1405 at 1100mhz.

Are you sure? I get a score of 1440 from a basic linear interpolation at 1100MHz. But I am suspect of these numbers since one of the scores is 1150, which is also one of the clock speeds. That could be a coincidence ...

1100/900 x 1150 = 1406

Kristijonas: See the HD 2500 isn't at 1100MHz though, according to leaks its 1150MHz. It's a small difference, but it exists.

That depends on whether you think going from HD 3000 to Llano level of performance will be enough, or not. Quite a lot should be able to run at Medium settings. Of course, that's nowhere near decent discrete graphics, but the former being free is a big incentive.

No, but it likely will have double the EUs. It won't be twice as fast though.

Almost Llano sounds about right.

HD 2500: 6 EUs
HD 4000: 16 EUs

HD 3000: 12 EUs

They claim its 60% faster than the HD 3000 in the 2600K, which performs about 20% better than the one in the 2500K due to clock speed differences. It'll get pretty close to 2x over 2500K's HD 3000, and they'll do the same with mobile.
