Has anyone got their hands on Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900 chipset cards? I would like to know how it fares of other cards...

Details @ HERE

With a memory limit of 224MB, plus the tad slow max memory bandwidth... A Radeon 8000/9000 and G-Force5200 Ultra can easily match the performance without much doubt if you don the DX9 feature set... If you go into more detail at the website.. the graphic chip actually shares the CPU and RAM resource... It uses CPU for general geometry calculations and part of the system RAM for video cache.. It will be another Intel Extreme Graphics Processor with PCI-X16 expansion...

however with ddr 2 ram @ 800 mhz+ it would be interesting. Seeing as most ddr 2 rams can handle high speeds. I would love seeing a super ram overclocked system just for the kicks of it :D

It's still an on-board graphics solution with PCI-X16 expansion if you remember the previous Intel Extreme Graphics 1/2 (with AGP expansion) processors.. They perform like G-Force2MX while sucking the system resource dry...

I'm guessing this is a 2x2 or 4x1 card.
Can't be much faster than a geforce4mx.
They would need to be clocked at 300+MHz to get performance anywhere near the geforce4mx440.

Intel having a try at Graphics AGAIN?
You seem surprised or astonished by this fact, considering they have the biggest piece of the graphics pie, it'd be ill advised not to continue developing new IGP solutions ;)

Hi, welcome to the 9xx chipset launch on June 19th, can I take your order?
"Yes, I'd like one reposted thread about the GMA900 and an full analysis of exactly how hard and far it blows."
Coming right up, sir.

I've heard it is a large improvement over the Intel "EXTREME!" IGP. Who cares? Not like anyone here uses it, all this means is that the average joe shmoe won't get as bad a computer next time around. Good job Intel.

Pretty close to a 64-bit FX5200 in most games.
Thanks! That really shows how optimized WMV HD is for Intel! I had concluded Intel was better but I didn't realize how much! WMV HD is a beast that crushes most AMD systems using WMP *look what it did to the 3000+ nF2 IGP* yet a budget Intel IGP solution can easily handle it while only modestly loading the CPU.

Intel doesnt care about the performance of this thing. They are making this so it will be compatible with Longhorn.

In case you didnt notice. Intel is the market leader in terms of overall marketshare ;)

they have to keep a leg up in the integrated graphics market. think about server motherboards, especially in 1u or 2u formfactor...

What the crap do servers need DX9 compliance for? :p
