"Intel Haswell Delayed – Launching in Late Q2 2013

According to the slides from VR-Zone, but the Intel Haswell desktop and mobile series would debut on a date ranging from 27th May to 7th June, whereas the list also mentioned that sales to end users would not commence until after 2nd June 2013."

See: http://wccftech.com/intel-haswell-4th-generation-core-series-delayed-launching-2nd-june/

Same procedure as with Ivy Bridge last year it seems...

Why rush it out? There's no competition. Thankfully my Sandy Bridge is still running strong. :)

NO biggie, gives me more time to save for a top of the line Haswell rig.

Glad I decided to just go ahead and buy now instead of waiting for Haswell.

Meh, it's hardly an important slip. If they'd planned to ship just before the holidays and screwed the pooch, that'd be news. But a Q1-Q2 slip isn't a big deal.

Cant even get myself interested in upgrading this year. Every game I play works flawlessly on this i5 2500K + GTX 470.

Chinese publication of VR-Zone has got reports from their sources that Intel would push back the launch of Intel Haswell Core series by a whole month.

Egads! Not a WHOLE month!

This can only be the result of Intel abusing their monopoly-like position, or their 22nm is faltering, or this is why Otellini was pushed out the door, or Intel needs more time to figure out how to substitute an even crappier TIM under Haswell's IHS, or this is why they sent a bunch of drunken Irishmen home 6 months early :hmm:

All I know is there can only be the most fiendishly evil and devious reasons why Intel would consider pushing back the schedule by an absurdly huge delay the likes of 31 days. Consumers are being raped, or Intel's engineers are idiots who can get product out of the fabs, or, or, or...

Irony aside, what do you think is the reason for the delay?

Guys Haswell isnt some dramatic gain CPU. Its the GPU in the CPU that is very fast now... so if you need that get haswell ,, other then that ,,,,, haswell will be released to mobile first and low end market. 4/4 threads... Then now a delay so in 2014 you will see 8 thread haswell for enthusiast, or overclocker....

Also Ivy Bridge E is supposed to launch in Q3. Im eventually going to get that and slap it on my ubber mobo.......

Face it. Noone is hard up for a CPU these days. Sandy/Ivy people are good for a long while....i mean looooooong while unless we simply feel like upgrading (which I always do).

With your 3930k and a oc,you could easily sit on that thing for a few years.

Can't wait to get mine, the delays and constant socket changes and increment performance increases at best bores me,rather have 6 overclocked cores and sit on it for a few years versus always hoping your 4 cores will see a modest performance increase all while hoping intel will be generous with performance and socket compatibility.

Last time i jumped up and down in excitement was when nehalem came out,was so nervous overclocking that platform i got the i7 940 instead of the typical 920 choice.:p

^^^ Not that I have one or am condoning purchase now or then, but isn't the same true of an i7-990x? With the 6 cores and decent arch it still whoops and the only real issue is power draw. 990x was release early 2011 -- so still near top of the heap 2 years later!

If they have the launch party in June they can do it on the beach.
The Oregon coast is pretty nice in June.

My wife (then girlfriend) and I did the Hood-to-coast relay race one year and the race end (the beach) was really quite nice. Seaside is very nice for out of towners

Consider Intel and how they look after their supplier eco-system. They know business partner ties are strongest when everyone feels well looked after and no one is left without their bread getting buttered.

If I had to guess, first and foremost I would assume that Intel has had actionable feedback given to them from their suppliers in terms of their supplier's roadmap timeline desires to better match Intel's launch timeline to that of their own product portfolio timelines.

Mobo makers, systems integrators, distributors, etc.

Intel is in the position of being gracious and accommodating of such requests, if such requests came from a number of large volume OEMs or supply chain component providers.

Intel is in cruise mode. There's no rush to do anything. They probably spend most of their time playing foosball.
