okay Im getting a new laptop pretty soon, primarly for just surfing and mild gaming on old games like counter-strike, warcraft 3, diablo 2, etc, etc, after shopping around almost all laptops in my range only had integrated intel graphics chips, I found a dell with a ati 7500 but I have to cut down on everything else..i was just wondering if I should even look into these chips, or stop waisting my time with them..any suggestions?

thanks

The Extreme Graphics is supposed to have the performance of a TNT2 Ultra, while Extreme Graphics 2 is about a GeForce 4 MX 420 or so.

I have a Dell 1100 2.0 Celeron with intel "extreme" Graphics.

Played the following at reduced 800*600 levels-very playable frame rates.

Q3 Arena
Half life
UT
CounterStrike
Thief 1 and 2
ReVolt
Diablo 2
Grand Prix Legends

No T and L, pixel shaders or the like, but for the $660 price for the 1100, it's OK!

According to a chart I saw on Dell's website, the Radeon Mobilty 7500 is 3.3 times as fast as the Intel Extreme Graphics (i852 chipset) and the Radeon Mobility 9000 is 4.1 times as fast (as measured by 3DMark2001SE).

THG tests integrated graphics solutions

Even with a 3.06 GHz Pentium 4-HT backing it up, the Intel solution gets only 3250 2001SE 3DMarks or so. My 1.30 GHz Pentium-M and Radeon Mobility 7500 combo gets 4100 on the same test with the same settings.

I dont have WC3, so I can't test it.

My guess is that it would work fine.

I'd stay away from the Intel graphics... go for the radeon! I know what you mean about the money issue though. Tough call to make... personally, I'd cut down a bit on the proc to get the extra graphics... but thats just me! Good luck!
