Sharing system memory would be a disaster. You would need to route every memory request over PCIe, and Intel only put a PCIe x4 connection on Tiger Lake... It would perform worse than the integrated graphics.I'm going to lean on DG1 sharing system memory, if that rumor is accurate. It'll be an easy way for a dGPU to save on costs.
Of course rumors have been quite inaccurate and exaggerated on lots of things. Weren't there rumors that it'll use GDDR5/6 with 96-bit interface as well? With 96EUs @ ~1.5GHz that kind of bandwidth is perfect.
