This is a first, after using Intel brand mobo's for years now, I had to RMA a one week old D865GBFL board. The thing just up and refused to read any device connected to either of the two PATA connectors. After POST, I would get a blinking cursor, nothing more. This is on top of the P12 BIOS fiasco, where the hell are they going to?

Intel needs to re-think their phone Technical Support policy. "I'm sorry that you are having problems with a new product, sir. To continue our conversation will require a payment of $25, payable with a major credit card". What? You want me to pay $25 for the honor of returning one of your products for replacement? Also, farming tech supp out to some company in India may be saving you money, but it sure frosts my ass when I have to ask the guy I'm talking to to repeat himself over and over because I can't quite understand him. Good thing they saw that in this case maybe giving me an RMA number for free was in their best interests.

END RANT

So did you end up paying them the $25 to RMA your board?

No I didn't. I was put on hold and a new tech rep came on the line and told me that the first call of a new case number was free, so therefore I didn't have to pay. But it was not a toll free call, so there goes 20 minutes@$0.10/min.

$25 for the second tech support call????

Was this board under warranty? If so then never ever ever will I purchase another intel product. Thats just sick. Especially with the prices they charge for their chips.

Go AMD!!!
