Anyone have a setup like this? I have just ordered an inspiron 6000 and the 2405 and im wondering if they will play well together. From Dells site it says that they work together, but im not sure what "works" means in this case. Does anyone have experience with this kind of setup? Im going to be programming, surfing the web etc on this machine and probably no gaming, will this suffice?

You should get another video card with DVI, since LCD's don't look nearly as sharp on VGA connections.

I agree... most integrated video solutions don't have DVI connections, and that might be a big issue at a high resolution like 1920x1200. I can even tell a big difference between VGA and DVI on my 2005FPW at 1680x1050. You can grab any cheap video card with DVI for less than $50 and that'll be good for non-gaming applications.

Don't tell me you will buy a $900 monitor and not a $50 video card to go with it? DVI is a must with that kind of monitor, man.

My $.02 that you asked for :)

Well, for some reason the inspirons on dell home, dont have an option to upgrade video... (I would definitely be willing to spend another hundred or so to make good use of the monitor). Does anyone known if I can add a vid card to a laptop that has a integrate graphics card?

The Inspiron is a laptop, with only analog out...

Yes it will work. If the results are not satisfactory the only option is to return it and get the XPS with DVI-out or a Latitude-D with an additional D/Port or D/Dock to add DVI-out.
