Through the Intel purchase program we get an Intel DG965WH motherboard and a Core 2 Duo E6300 and Windows Vista Ultimate for a really low price. The motherboard has onboard graphics, Intel® GMA X3000. That onboard gfx is DX10 but is made to support vista aero not necessarily to play games. I'm curious if this would be able to play Battlefield 2 while I wait to see what ATI does with the R600. In my current system I play BF2 on I have a GeForce FX 5700 ULTRA and its just time to upgrade I have to run BF2 at lowest of all settings plus only at 800x600 resolution. I just want to see what kind of game play I might expect from the onboard while I wait for a different card. The reason why I am not wanting to put a gfx card in the system just yet is because I work for a retailer that sells ATI we get 40% Discount on any ATI products. I don't really want to spend a lot of money on a card now then spend even more money when R600 is released. I am building a machine that includes that motherboard and cpu plus 2 Gigs of G.Skill DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 memory. THANKS!

Might as well give it a try. The x3000 is new enough that I doubt anyone really has any hard numbers as far as it's performance. Just try it.

I was getting 20 to 30 FPS in WOW at 1280x720 while using the Intel onboard graphics in my Retail Edge Core2 bundle. BF2 is probably a bit heavy to be running on the GMA3000. 8800 GTS just came in today, woohoo!

the x3000 can maybe play an older fps like say wolf ET. i've run a bunch of benchmarks. wolf ET i'd figure maybe something like 50fps at 800x600.

BF2 probably would kill it.
